NON-POLARISED SUNGLASSES

A headset presses the temple against the side of the head. After two hours you notice it; after six it becomes the whole story. Our temples are beta-titanium: flexible enough to adapt to the shape of your head, with enough elastic recovery to hold that shape. Hypoallergenic and nickel-free, because eight hours of skin contact shouldn't be a compromise.

LCD and LED displays contain polarising filters of their own. Add a second filter and the two can cancel each other out depending on viewing angle: the display goes dim or black. This affects cockpit instruments, car navigation screens, fuel pump terminals and smartphone displays.

Through tint. Our nylon lenses are filter category 3 to EN ISO 12312-1 and filter up to 85 % of visible light. Add an anti-reflective coating on the rear surface, which cuts stray light from behind, and UV400 protection against the invisible part.

Tint and UV protection are two different things, incidentally: the filter category governs visible light, UV400 the range up to 400 nanometres. A dark frame without UV protection is worse than none, because the pupil widens.
