Sechs Modelle, ein Kern

Jede solaero-Fassung ist um denselben Kern gebaut: Beta-Titan, UV400-Gläser der Filterkategorie 3, entspiegelt und kratzfest beschichtet, bewusst nicht polarisiert. Was sich unterscheidet, ist die Form.

CAPTÆN und STRÆTOS sind die großen Fassungen — Tropfenform und kantige Linien, beide 100 % Beta-Titan, 20 und 19 Gramm. HÆLO ist die filigranste und mit 17 Gramm die leichteste unserer Kollektion. NOMÆD, VÆCTOR und SKYMÆSTER verbinden eine Acetatfront mit dem Titankern: rund, trapezförmig und mit Browline-Kante.

Alle Modelle sind unisex geschnitten, mit Glasbreiten von 49 bis 58 Millimetern und einheitlich 145 Millimeter Bügellänge. Die vollständigen Maße stehen auf jeder Produktseite — gemessen, nicht gerundet.

Wenn Polarisation zum Problem wird

Ein Polarisationsfilter blockiert Licht einer bestimmten Schwingungsrichtung. Das reduziert Blendung durch Wasser und nasse Fahrbahnen — genau deshalb ist er beliebt.

Für Piloten kommt mehr hinzu: Polarisierte Gläser können den Lichtblitz anderer Flugzeuge dämpfen und Spannungsmuster in Verbundwindschutzscheiben sichtbar machen. Die FAA rät Piloten deshalb von polarisierten Gläsern ab — ohne sie zu verbieten.

Das Problem beginnt bei Displays.

Ein Headset drückt den Bügel gegen die Seite des Kopfes. Nach zwei Stunden spürt man es, nach sechs bestimmt es alles. Unsere Bügel bestehen aus Beta-Titan: flexibel genug, um sich der Kopfform anzupassen, mit genug Rückstellkraft, um diese Form zu halten. Hypoallergen und nickelfrei, denn acht Stunden Hautkontakt sollten kein Kompromiss sein.

LCD- und LED-Displays enthalten selbst Polarisationsfilter. Kommt ein zweiter Filter hinzu, können sich beide je nach Blickwinkel gegenseitig auslöschen: Das Display wird dunkel oder schwarz. Das betrifft Cockpit-Instrumente, Navigationsdisplays im Auto, Zapfsäulen-Terminals und Smartphone-Displays.

Wie wir Blendung stattdessen reduzieren

Durch Tönung. Unsere Nylongläser entsprechen Filterkategorie 3 nach EN ISO 12312-1 und filtern bis zu 85 % des sichtbaren Lichts. Dazu eine Entspiegelung auf der Rückseite, die Streulicht von hinten reduziert, und UV400-Schutz gegen den unsichtbaren Anteil.

Tönung und UV-Schutz sind übrigens zwei unterschiedliche Dinge: Die Filterkategorie regelt das sichtbare Licht, UV400 den Bereich bis 400 Nanometer. Eine dunkle Fassung ohne UV-Schutz ist schlechter als gar keine, weil sich die Pupille weitet.
